When someone asks if you're a god, you say YES.
I have said, Ye are gods; and all of you are children of the most High.
Psalm 82:6
I thought it was time to add a little levity along with a point. When the Ghostbusters (original movie) encounter Gozer, she asks if they are gods. When Ray answers no, she says “then die!” and zaps them with lightning bolts. When they recover, Winston tells him: “Ray, when someone asks you if you're a god, you say yes!”
Not only does the Psalm tell us that we are gods, but Jesus even reiterates that point:
Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?
John 10:34
Keep in mind that, at first, people wanted to stone Jesus for saying that he is a son of God. Then, after he left the earth, it became okay for him but not for everyone else. Why the double standard?
It's often easier to put people on a pedestal than to actually have to engage with them. We've done the same thing to Jesus.
Try reading the New Testament as if you were an anthropologist from another planet; eliminate your prejudices and just read it. You'll find an entirely different story than the one you've been told.
